MCMC board to meet Thursday

Project Share reported that in 2014 they served 109 qualifying families, comprised of 319 individuals. Qualifying families receive free clothing once a month for each member of the family. The total number of new families signed up in 2014 was seventy-three. There were 39 qualifying families that used the free clothing allotment only once. The 109 families made a total of 343 visits. This equaled 1,102 individuals receiving free services in 2014, a seven percent increase from 2013. If you, or someone you know, need additional information about requirements to become a qualifying family, please contact Judy Barbour at 573-230-2316.

Project Share began a ministry to the Tipton Correctional Facility in November 2013. Inmates who had no means to meet their clothing needs upon release from the facility, other than prison issued clothing, were able to request assistance. They have filled 122 requests. Clothing provided usually includes a coat, pant and shirt. These requests for clothing were met through the generous donations received from the community.

Project Share had a total of 4,453 volunteer hours recorded from our opening in February through December 2014. The MCMC Board of Directors and Project Share Managers wish to express heartfelt appreciation to all the volunteers and the Moniteau County community. You not only help meet a need for a low cost clothing outlet in Moniteau County, the patronage maintains the utilities and operating expenses for the entire Moniteau Christian Ministries Center, Inc.

Project Share is open every Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Service hours are extended in support of the food pantry clients during pantry service hours. Volunteers are always needed to help sort clothing donations. Anyone from the Tipton area who is interested in helping in the shop or assisting by sorting donations may contact Bonnie Howard at 660-433-2561.

Donations of clothing and household goods are received at the southern dock of the MCMC building. The facility is not able to receive furniture. Anyone wishing to make a donation in support of the MCMC mission can mail their donation to: MCMC, P.O. Box 245 California, MO, 65018.
