The Prairie Home Helping Hands 4-H Club members met Feb. 9. Secretary Aubrey Scott called the meeting to order and Treasurer Allen Haslag gave a report. Members of Cooper County Teen Council visited and provided information about upcoming events in the county. Reports were given on the Ethics meeting and the Shooting Sports Safety Day. Plans for working at the concession stand at the Music Contest on March 6 were discussed. Emma Stock was welcomed as a new member. After the business meeting, members enjoyed the annual tradition of making handmade Valentine's cards for area senior citizens and friends of 4-H.

The yearbook staff needs pictures of elementary basketball, particularly boys. If you have pictures, please email them to [email protected].

Prairie Home Parents As Teachers is announcing a partnership with Children's First Chances in Columbia. The advantages to this partnership include: two visits per month with diapers, wipes and books provided at each visit; monthly group events with supper and activities provided; the establishment of a Lend and Learn Library where anyone will be able to check out toys and books; and a crib program which will provide a free crib to eligible families (family must meet income guidelines established by WIC and be a high needs family). Susan Powell, Prairie Home PAT coordinator, would like her visits to be like a friend dropping by! There are no forms to fill out: residents of the Prairie Home R-V school district who are parents of a child from birth through age 3 need only call or email Susan to ask for a visit: phone - 573-291-9153, school phone-660-841-5296 or email - [email protected].
