Scouting for Food begins this weekend

Boy Scout units in the Great Rivers Council's Five Rivers District will begin their annual Scouting for Food program Saturday.

Most participating units in the district, which includes Cole, Gasconade, Maries, Moniteau and Osage counties, will be hanging informational door tags on residences Saturday. Other units will be distributing tags later in the week.

Anyone making a donation should put non-perishable food items in a bag along with the door tag and place them near the front door before 9 a.m. on Saturday March 7. Donations will be taken to local food pantries.

Items most needed include: peanut butter; dry cereal and oatmeal; canned vegetables and fruits; dry goods, beans, pasta and macaroni; canned meats, fish, soups and chili.

Glass items will not be picked up.

Contact your local scouting unit or call 1-800-SCOUTLAW for more information.
