State Senator Rob Schaaf will be the speaker at the Moniteau County Republican Club on Thursday, Jan. 15, at Bobbio's Eatery in Tipton. Buffet supper is at 6 p.m. for those wishing to eat (dutch treat) and the meeting will begin at 6:30.
Schaaf, a physician from St. Joseph, just began his second four-year term in the Missouri Senate after serving eight years in the Missouri House. He has taken a leading role in healthcare legislation including medicaid reform and has been a strong advocate for privacy rights. Schaaf was the sponsor of the constitutional amendment approved by voters in 2014 protecting electronic communication and data from unreasonable search and seizure. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Schaaf has a good overview of all of state government as well.
"Senator Schaaf is a senior legislator in the State Capitol who is unafraid to take on the status quo", said Club President Larry Rohrbach. "This is a good opportunity for all Moniteau County Republicans to hear from a very active legislator from the western part of the state".
