Mid-Mo Ambulance Board has good audit report

The results of the annual audit was the major item which came before the Mid-Mo Ambulance Board of Directors at its regular meeting Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Tipton district office.

Administrator Lee Kempf introduced Marshall Decker of Decker and DeGood, PC, Springfield, to present the results of the audit report of the 2013-14 fiscal year audit. Decker said there was nothing negative to report, cash balances in good shape were basically a "ditto" from last year.

Office Manager Brenda West presented the uncollectible accounts amounting to $651.98, which had been written off in the office. A request from an employee who is currently on medical leave was presented to the board. After discussion, the board approved allowing the employee to make payments on her health insurance coverage, continued through COBRA. It does not follow the current practice of a payment due on the first of the month with a 10-day grace period. With disability income expired for this person, the single payment is not possible at this time. The person is due to return to work March 2. The board voted to allow the person to make smaller payments several times a month through March. The board will take up a medical leave policy to better address such situations. In other business, the November treasurer's report balance on hand was $487,771.39. Run statistics were: Tipton - 54 calls with 42 transports; California - 85 calls, 66 transports; Versailles - 144 calls, 102 transports; and Barnett - 31 calls, 21 transports. District wide, there were 314 calls with 231 transports for a transport rate of 77 percent.

The next regular meeting is set for Feb. 11 at the Tipton district office.
