There were 14 members of the California Middle School Band who participated in the 2015 West Central Missouri Music Educators Association All-District Honor Band. The event was held Saturday, Jan. 17, at Smith-Cotton Junior High School, Sedalia.
The all-day event began with sectionals in which each instrument group met with area directors to work on specific sections of music. Next, the two bands came together to meet their directors and begin rehearsing for the concert that evening. After a lunch break, the bands continued rehearsing and then dismissed to change for the concert. At 5 p.m., the two bands took turns on the auditorium stage at Smith-Cotton Junior High School to present their concerts.
This year's musical selections included: eighth grade performances of Bluegrass Movements, English Holiday, and Pride of the Regiment; and seventh grade performances of Aztec Celebration, Clouds, Jet Stream, and March Bits & Pieces.
