Homecoming 2015 was full of exciting, fast paced ballgames, a couple of fun Sapphire dances and an elegant coronation. Bleachers were filled with enthusiastic, exuberate Jamestown fans supporting their teams in the "nail biters" against Prairie Home. After two overtimes, unfortunately the girls lost 59-65 but the boys beat their rival 48-47.

JHS fans could not be more proud of both teams. During the half time of the boy's game, the Jamestown crowd enjoyed a surprise appearance from the Sapphire alumni, performing a dance that they had performed when they were students at Jamestown. Also, following both games the present Sapphires performed their Homecoming dance with the basketball boys.

Every year Jamestown has a week of homecoming festivities culminating with homecoming night and crowning of the new Homecoming court. The traditional pep assembly was held Friday where the coaches, teammates, and homecoming candidates participate in a variety of games organized by the cheerleaders. During the traditional assembly the Sapphires, along with the boys' basketball team, debuted their dance, which everyone looks forward to. This year's homecoming theme, "Born to be Wild", gave students the opportunity to show spirit. The junior high and high school classes use this theme to construct a poster representing their class and the basketball teams, with the winners being announced at the assembly. Juniors received the first place ribbon for their representation of Tarzan, second place went to the seniors with their representation of Jamestown school, and eighth grade was awarded third place; their poster portraying an eagle on a motorcycle.

Another fun aspect of Homecoming are the dress-up days that student council chooses for K-12 to participate. Monday was "Celebrity Day" and the winners were first grader Jimmy Borts, second grader Jamie Dilbeck, and juniors Chris Tew and Regan Russell. Tuesday was "Pajama Day"; the winners were seniors Golf Sripornsawan and Abigail Couch, second grader Lauren Schubert, and Kindergartener Noah Parvin. Wednesday was "Hawaiian Day"; the winners were senior Stephanie Birkmann, sophomore Dakota Matthews, sixth grader Elizabeth Ash and third grader Henry Hirschvogel. Thursday was "Dress like an Animal Day"; the winners were Kindergartener Rylee Hirschvogel, third grader Connor Gorman, and freshmen Brandon Thompson and Cara Scheperle. Finally, Friday was "Spirit Day" with Kindergartener Anthony Coonce, first grader Olivia Oerly, freshman Austin Flippin and junior Mackenzie Strother being the winners.

The coronation was beautiful. As the lights dimmed, live music was played by senior Andrew Couch and freshman Kora Plaster. The candidates all walked to their places with senior Abigail Couch, student council president, announcing their arrival. Drum roll by sophomore Cole Brizendine signaled the opening of the envelopes for 2015 Homecoming royalty. Freshmen Trenton Barbour and Valerianna Gentzsch were crowned prince and princess, and juniors Wyatt Hunziker and Regan Russell were crowned king and queen. As last year's homecoming king, queen, prince, and princess, graduate Andy Thompson, junior Emily Scheperle, sophomore Dakota Matthews, and Freshman Cara Scheperle retired their crowns the court made their way to the stage where they sat in front of a large tree arbor donated by Daniel Couch. Jamestown journalism staff would like to congratulate our Homecoming court along with our Varsity boys and girls.
