The Prairie Home School Board was recognized during School Board Appreciation Week. During the monthly meeting, members were honored with refreshments and certificates of appreciation. The City of Prairie Home passed a resolution, that was read at the school board meeting, proclaiming the week of Jan. 19 as School Board Appreciation Week. School board members are Marsha Stewart, Todd Stock, Kathleen Kendrick, Will Simmons, Gary Burch, Chris Holliday and Heather Sullard.
During the board meeting, Alumni Association President Nancy Kixmiller presented $2000 to the school from the Alumni Association. The donation was made possible through dues and donations of alumni at their meeting this past Labor Day weekend.
The school received a new American flag last week from the office of Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler. The flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 before being to Prairie Home.
The Garden Club met on Saturday. After a brief meeting, they volunteered at Neighbors Helping Neighbors food pantry in Boonville and made a $100 donation. Garden Club members attending were Patti Vonder Haar, Vicki Fain, Glenda Sells, Janie Vance and Peggy Ann Eichen. The next meeting will be on Feb. 22 at the home of Melanie Carraher, Lupus.
The United Methodist Church hosted its monthly fellowship dinner on Sunday with Brenda Sells and Diane Figueroa serving as hostesses.
