California Disc Golf Club counts the first membership drive, Saturday, July 18, a success with 32 people present for big event. This drive to increase membership is one of the steps towards a planned "Ham and Turkey Toss" tournament to be during the Ozark Ham and Turkey Festival on the third Saturday in September. Three lady golfers joined the 29 males. There were eight four-player teams in the competition. Each player received a t-shirt and tag.

The club plays on the nine-hole (or basket, since this is disc golf) at California's Proctor Park. For this first membership drive, the course was enlarged to an 18 basket course by setting up nine temporary ones.

All holes are Par three on the course first established at the park in 2000. Although the course is described as mostly flat and lightly wooded, there are a lot of smaller trees and some of the pins are "tucked into tight places." The majority of the course is south of the Proctor Park Lake in the well-maintained park. One commenter said, "Tougher little course than it first appears."
