Power was out in parts of the City of California Wednesday evening , June 10, for nearly an hour. According to City Utility supervisors Kyle Wirts and Rick Graham, an electric power line failed over Business 50 at Russellville Road shortly after 5 p.m. The broken line was dropped onto the highway and power was off for many homes and businesses in the southeast quadrant of California. The roadway was blocked with the assistance of the City Fire Department and the line was repaired and power restored by utility employees.

Later in the evening, a line splice in the same general area apparently overheated and failed, knocking out the power to a few areas including the city well at the Russellville Road water tower. Back on the job, the crews also repaired that power line break.

Power was restored with no more reported problems.
