Branding and logos discussed at CPI meeting

The possibility of "branding" the community with a logo was discussed at the California Progress, Inc. (CPI) meeting, Thursday, June 18. Eleanor Tiefenbrun reported concerning her efforts in developing concepts for possible logos, with an ability to use some form of the final result for the California Historic District (CHD). The logo could be used with "branding" of the community.

This has been done in other communities, such as Columbia, with an area called "The District." The idea is to make the city and the community a "destination, rather than just a city to pass through or pass by. Wayfinding signs were also part of the discussion at the meeting, which was held in the Moniteau County Library at Wood Place, second floor.

In other business, the board was informed that the website and the Facebook pages of the CPI/CHD are being cleaned up.

The Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) loan applications were discussed by NAP Coordinator Ann Albertson. There are several loan applications pending at this time.

The CPI board and CHD members plan to participate in the Independence Day Parade on July 4. The "Dancing with the Stars" fundraiser event, planned for Sept. 26, appears to be on track at this time. Planning also continues for the "Wine, Dine and Win" fundraising event, scheduled for Oct. 17.

A special meeting is planned for Tuesday, June 30, at 6 p.m., in addition to the regular monthly meeting set for July 16. Both will be in the library, on the second floor. The future of CPI and CHD involving the old MFA Feed / Thomas Ceramic building on Railroad Avenue is one of the topics to be addressed at the special meeting.
