Ozark Ham and Turkey Festival to celebrate 25th anniversary

The board approved the minutes from the February meeting as well as the treasurer's report.

Executive Secretary Diane Eulinger distributed a written report of activities. She reminded board members of the ribbon cutting to be held at Re/Max on Friday, March 20, at 1 p.m.

Brad Baer shared with the board eight people attended the first Ozark Ham and Turkey planning meeting. The planning will continue and everyone is invited to participate the first Monday night of each month, at 5:30 p.m., at the city hall meeting room. This year the Ozark Ham and Turkey will celebrate its 25th anniversary and the silver anniversary will be the theme of the event held the third Saturday of September.

Mason Neff from Viamedia shared information regarding cable advertising. Viamedia is currently working with Moniteau, Miller and Morgan counties through CoMo Connect's fiber network. Neff offered to meet with an individual business owner to supply needs for cable advertising. He advised he and his partner would be contacting area businesses in California.

In new business the board approved the sponsorship of a California High School girl to attend Girls State for the 2015 session.

The Chamber will be nominating its 2014 Citizen of the Year for the Outstanding Senior Citizen Service Award.

Jason Witt, General Manager of Cargill, shared an update on the H5N2 avian influenza virus that has been detected in Moniteau County.

Cale Brown shared all was going well for the annual Chamber of Commerce/Commerce Bank Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for March 28, at Proctor Park. Area students are assisting with the preparations.

Dwight Sanders noted plans are being made for the June 10 golf tournament. Anyone wishing to participate can contact Sanders.

Jason Witt reported he attended the city council meeting to affirm the Chamber's commitment to contribute $30,000 to the "Welcome to California" sign.

The scholarship committee will begin accepting applications. High school students may obtain an application from the guidance counselor. The deadline to be considered is April 15.
