Healea granted Change of Venue in vehicular assault case

In a hearing held by Judge Gary Oxenhandler, a Change of Venue from Boone County to Shelby County was granted Monday, March 23, for Moniteau County Prosecuting Attorney Shayne Healea. Shelby County and Macon County make up the 41st Judicial Circuit. Shelbyville is the county seat of Shelby County.

The Change of Venue is for the case which resulted from an alleged incident on Saturday, Oct. 25, in Columbia involving Moniteau County Prosecuting Attorney Shayne Healea. He was arrested at the scene and later charged with leaving the scene of an accident, Class D Felony, and four counts of second degree assault, Class C Felony.

Healea was alleged to have backed a truck into a wall of Addison's Grill about 7:30 p.m., then drove away, parking a short distance away in front of the Tiger Hotel, and got out of the vehicle. The part of the wall hit by the lowered tailgate of the backing Ford F-150 crew cab pickup was a nine by four foot section made of glass building blocks which shattered, sending broken glass into the restaurant. Four people were reported to have sustained injuries from the debris which flew into the restaurant dining area.

No hearing had been scheduled in Shelby County as of press time.
