A dozen California High School students participated in the Mr. Pinto contest Monday, March 16, at the CHS auditorium. Matt Oerly and Rylee Glenn served as masters of ceremony for the contest, which consisted of several events, including a talent contest. Judging was done by a rotating panel of their female classmates. The event served as a fundraiser for the food pantry, with either three items or canned food or $3 required to be a part of the audience. In addition, to the 189 pounds of canned food, $120 was raised.

Contestants were Carter Asahl, Allan Burger, Sam Clenin, Alex Dalbey, Cory Friedmeyer, Hunter Heimericks, Cody Hentges, Drew Norton, Clayton Percival, Hunter RuBert, Brett Skinner, and Josh Woodruff.

Burger, Dalbey, Norton, Percival and Woodruff were the five finalists who competed in what was supposed to be the final event, but since there was a tie for first place between Dalbey and Norton, an additional event was added. It was question asking what the contestant would do if they were the winner. Norton was selected as winner and named Mr. Pinto, taking a $20 prize. First runner-up was Dalbey - $15 prize - and second runner-up Burger - $10 prize.
