Register now for the 11th Annual Mid-Mo Women in Agriculture Conference

The 11th Annual Mid-Mo Women in Agriculture Conference will be held on Thursday, April 2, at California High School. Organizers say the $10 registration fee will fill the day with information, entertainment, good food and great company. The theme is "Back to Nature" and the conference promises to have something of interest for everyone.

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for registration, all day shopping with the vendors, and Capital Region Medical Center's Heart Health Screenings. The General Session speaker this year will feature Chris Chinn. Chris and her husband are 5th generation farmers from Shelby County. Chris was a 2013 winner of the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance Faces of Farming & Ranching program, and shares her stories about farm life - promoting agriculture to a nationwide audience.

Breakout workshops will be held throughout the day. Participants can chose from topics such as: "Fix Quick, Eat Smart, Be Active", "Annie Project", Native Flowers and the Birds They Attract", "Bee Keeping is My Hobby", "Small Town Main Streets", "Cast Iron Cooking", "Animals on the Farm" and "Women's Fitness".

Lots of door prizes and a picnic-theme lunch will be included in the day's festivities. This year everyone is requested to bring items to donate to the Rape and Abuse Crisis Service in Jefferson City.

Sponsors of the conference are USDA, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, and University of Missouri Extension. Updates and a list of needed Items for the Rape and Abuse Crisis Service are available on the "Mid-MO Women In Agriculture" Facebook page.

Mail your $10 registration to Moniteau County USDA Service Center, Attn: Nancy Kirby, 410 W Buchanan St, California MO 65018 or call 573-796-2010, ext. 3 if you have questions.
