Puppet show kicks off the summer reading program

"Anyone can be a Super Hero. My Mom says so!" says Susie, the hero of Parasol Puppets' exciting new puppet show, "Susie Saves the Day". This hand puppet adventure is filled with audience participation and interaction. Each puppet performance is uniquely different. No two shows will ever be the same! The audience works with the puppeteer to create a performance from items displayed on the "Puppet Menu". Let's see, how shall our story begin? What is the problem? What's going to happen? How can Susie save the day? Puppeteer Peter Allen puts the selected items together at every performance to create a brand new story starring our hero, Susie. This is classic Puppet Theatre for the whole family!

Two performances will take place Thursday, May 28, with one performance for preschool aged children at 10 a.m., and a second performance for elementary aged children at 6:30 p.m. at the library. These performances are sponsored by the Moniteau County Library, and the "Reading Shapes Heroes" Summer Reading Program Grant provided in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

This special program kicks-off of the nine week summer reading program.

Sign-up begins May 21; the program will end the last week in July. For more details about the program, go to the library's website at: www.moniteaucountylibrary.org, or call 573-796-2642.
