Mid-Mo Ambulance Board meets new medical director

The new Mid-Mo Ambulance medical director, Dr. Alan Wilson, and his wife were introduced to the Mid-Mo Ambulance District Board of Directors at the regular monthly meeting, Wednesday, May 13, held at the Tipton district office.

Wilson, a physician and medical director for Lake Regional Hospital is also medical director of Camden County S.W.A.T. He has also been a paramedic. He addressed the board members present with his goals and expectations of the district.

The board discussed its concern about the cost of the electric service at the Barnett base. Even with improvements and changes, the electric service at that base remains more costly than any of the other bases. Administrator Lee Kempf said Co-Mo Electric will be contacted to check into the problem.

Kempf presented the board with a list of the nine ambulances with information on make, year and mileage. A new ambulance needs to be purchased soon. He plans to bring a bid to the board at the next meeting. An ambulance ordered now could be paid for in the next fiscal year when the district takes possession. He would like to see the district get another new ambulance soon after that.

Office Manager Brenda West presented accounts deemed noncollectable by the office and have been written off in the amount of $597.59.

In other business, the April treasurer's report indicated the balance on hand was $482,601.66.

Run statistics were: Tipton - 40 calls with 28 transports; California - 55 calls, 33 transports; Versailles - 140 calls, 98 transports; and Barnett - 29 calls, 18 transports. District wide, there were 264 calls with 177 transports for a transport rate of 72.8 percent on patient contact calls.

The next regular meeting is set for June 10, at the Tipton district office.
