Tuesday, Nov. 10, was the day of the 2015 Moniteau County Cattlemen's Scholarship Dinner and Auction. The event was held at Centennial Hall at the Moniteau County Fairgrounds.

In the last few years, the Moniteau Cattlemen's Association has supported the college-bound agriculture students from the county. In 2012, $500 scholarships were awarded to 21 students; in 2013, 15 $750 scholarships awarded; in 2014, it was 17 $750 scholarships; and in 2015, it was 17 $1,000 scholarships.

About 225 turned out for the dinner of steak, potato and salad. Following the dinner, President Tom Huhmann introduced David Gier, who presented an "Outstanding Cattlemen's Award" plaque to Charlie Stock, in thanks for his many years of support to the Moniteau Cattlemen's Association.

The auctioneer for the evening, Grant Petree, was introduced and the cattlemen and guests got down to business raising funds for the 2016 scholarships. A large variety of items were auctioned. Several donations were added to bring the total amount raised to about $16,000.
