Thanksgiving Dinner to be sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance

Undecided about Thanksgiving Day dinner plans? The Ministerial Alliance of California Missouri invites you to gather for a delicious meal at the Nutritional Center on Thanksgiving Day. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. a tasty tender turkey food line will be opened. Also, you can expect potatoes, sweet potatoes, pie, cranberry sauce, vegetables and more to be part of the menu. The cost? None. While donations will go to the work of the Ministerial Alliance, the meal is free.

Part of the Ministerial Alliance effort reaches out not only to those minus a TG place to go, but serves others in the community. From serving our "911" specialists to those in jail to those who are home bound this meal goes out. Should you desire a home delivered meal call St. Paul's Lutheran at 796-2735 before Thursday, Nov 26, or call the 796-4240 Nutritional Center on Thanksgiving Day between 10 and 10:30 a.m.

If you would like to help work and be part of the Thanksgiving Day tradition, contact St. Paul's Lutheran at 796-2735. Make your good desire to help known and we will joyfully put you to work in an area that is within your comfort zone. We can use people to serve early on, cut pies, take meals to home-bound citizens, but we can especially use help come time to clean up around 12:45 p.m.

Throughout the years local Ministerial Alliance churches have participated in the sponsorship of this Thanksgiving Day gathering. Thanksgiving to the God of all grace for the inexpressible gift of Jesus has given impulse to this tradition. The meal is one of the many ways the California Ministerial Alliance strives to meet a host of needs in our community and be a little Christ. We thank the California Democrat for graciously giving publicity to this salutary event. We thank Radio Station KRLL for all its gratis work to help us help hurting families. We also appreciate Gerri Ogle for serving with excellence as the Ministerial Alliance Treasurer. We have helped hundreds of people this year because of the extraordinary generosity of this community moved by the love of Christ. What a blessing all of these entities and people have been this past year as masks for God's tasks.

Also for your joy, on Thanksgiving Day, there will be a Thanksgiving Service at 9 a.m. on KRLL radio. After all, Thanksgiving Day is for Thanksgiving! It was not a football that created the universe out of nothing and died on the cross for mankind's sins and rose from the dead to inspire the greatest acts of giving in history.

We also salute the outstanding work of Loretta George who has served marvelously as our Alliance treasurer for these past years. She has been a wonderful mask for God's task in helping the Alliance to conduct its business with a proper, polite, and professional manner. Similarly, we give God thanks for the many extra miles Pastor Ken Mathes walked in helping the down-and-out in this community, quietly yet effectively carrying out deeds of mercy for over 14 years through Alliance work. Finally, we express appreciation to Dr. Dwayne Dollgener for his excellent service during his interim time as an Alliance member bringing a big heart for the helpless to our little Gideon's army. All have been light and leaven living from Christ's love for others. May their numbers be increased!

Pastor Peter Kurowski, on behalf of the California Ministerial Alliance, St. Paul's Lutheran, 796-2735.
