Family and friends filled the CHS auditorium Thursday, Nov. 19, for the California Elementary School fourth graders performance of a one-act musical play "Off Their Rockers."

The story setting is a senior center, where the residents find it quiet and calm, and maybe a little boring. That changes when the Director of the Center decides music and dance could bring the seniors some fun and excitement.

The Director and friends and families of the center residents insist that the senior citizens should get "off their rockers" and join in on songs and dances from the center residents' past, and maybe have a little fun along the way.

The center workers and the younger relatives of the older family members residing at the center urge the older residents to get off their rocking chairs and put down their canes, and join in the fun of remembering their youth, and take part in the dancing and singing of songs familiar to them from days of old.

In between the songs, the students playing the part of younger relatives of the center residents become even stronger in their urging of the older relatives to join in the fun.

Songs performed in the play began with "Old Time Rock and Roll," then proceeded to "The Banjo's Back in Town," "Rock Around the Clock," "At the Hop," "The Peppermint Twist" and ended with "Dancin' in the Street."

The performance was directed by Stacy Friedrich.
