The Mobile Vet Center, which serves 38 counties in northeast and central Missouri, stopped by California Monday, Oct. 5.

LLoyd H. Adams Jr., MCV Technician, and Mark Johnson, Outreach Coordinator, staffed the mobile center which was located on Dahler Street for the day. The mobile unit works out of the Columbia Vet Center, at 4040 Rangeline Street, Columbia, and attempts to stop in each of the area counties at least one time. They prefer to visit a town during some high attendance event, because of the larger number of eligible veterans which attend the high traffic event. Since the service is cost-free, the mobile center also only appears at events and location where it can set up without charge.

Many services are offered to veterans and their families. There is individual and group readjustment counseling, job counseling and referral, benefit referral assistance, marital and family counseling, bereavement counseling, PTSD groups for spouses and much more. Information is available on specific topics, such as Agent Orange.

The national website is www.vetcenter.va.gov, or telephone 1-877-WAR-VETS. The Columbia Vet Center may be reached at 573-814-6206.
