Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday Nov. 1

It's that time of year again when Daylight Saving Time comes to an end. This year the change is Sunday, Nov. 1, so don't forget to set your clocks back one hour on Oct. 31. The time officially changes at 2 a.m. Nov. 1.

Because of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Daylight Saving Time for 2015 began Sunday, March 8 -the second Sunday in March with the clocks set forward an hour - and ends Sunday, Nov. 1 - the first Sunday in November with the clocks set back an hour.

According to several sources, Daylight Saving Time is not observed in Arizona, Hawaii and some U.S. territories.

California Fire Chief Allen Smith also recommends changing batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in the home or office at this time. He also recommended that any detector which is more than 10 years old be replaced, even if it still appears to be functioning.
