The 17th annual Ozark Ham and Turkey Diaper Derby was held on the post office lawn with baby races at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 19.

The event was sponsored by Hawthorn Bank and provided the opportunity for babies to participate in the Ozark Ham and Turkey Festival.

During each race, parents, or whoever brought the baby to the event, were on one end of the "racecourse" and babies were at the other. Toys, food, keys or anything to entice the crawlers across the finish line were used.

There was no charge for the event. Contestants had three minutes to cross the finish line which was no problem for this year's winners. Boys and girls raced separately.

Competing in the girls race was Skii Cary, daughter of Tracy and Nathan Cary, Tipton; and Temperance Grant, daughter of Travis and Robin Grant, California.

Competing in the boys race was Jack Boucher, son of Elizabeth Franken, California; and Braby Milne, son of Kaitlyn and Travis Milne, California.

Crossing the finish line first for the girls was Skii Cary and finishing first for the boys was Jack Boucher .
