The Central Missouri Community Action (CMCA) Moniteau County Head Start held its annual 100 Man Lunch for parents, grandparents and community members on March 30.

CMCA started the event to have positive male role models become invested in the lives of the children of the community.

The Moniteau County Head Start location changed in September to a full-day/full-year program serving 15 preschool families. Tawnya Pace, team leader, said, "We made the decision to go to a full-day program because of the needs of the community. With us going to a full-day program this year, we have helped working low-income families with a high-quality full-day preschool program and made the cost affordable for the families."

At the event, every child had a role model to read, play and eat lunch with. The children enjoyed showing their role models how they served themselves and were able to do things independently.

"We do this on a yearly basis to have the community come in and see the great things our children are doing and to show our children that the community does care about them," Pace said.
