No California farmers market this year

No farmers market will be set up in California in 2016.

California Progress Inc. could not find enough vendors.

The committee contacted more than 20 vendors and received only three replies. They said they needed a minimum of six to proceed.

Late planting dates also contributed to the decision.

“We truly tried and contacted many, many people,” said Susan Burger, executive director. “Perhaps this will kick-start a renewed public interest in having a local farmers market for next year.”
