Moniteau County Democrats hosts meeting

The Moniteau County Democrat meeting met at the Nic Nac Cafe on Jan. 28. This was an organizational meeting to kick off this important election year. Barb Gaw, Central Committee Secretary, explained in detail the Democrat caucus which will be held on April 7.

This is in preparation for the following 4th Congressional caucus on April 28 and State Caucus on June 18. There was a discussion regarding the Presidential Primary coming up on March 15 with members commenting on their favorite candidate. Lists of Moniteau County Democrats were shared to be called to encourage them to get out and vote in the Presidential primary. There is a need for Democrat judges for the elections that will be occurring this year. Members were asked to contact County Clerk, Roberta Elliott, if they are interested. The 45th annual Missouri Democrat Days will be held in Hannibal on March 4 and 5.

There are plans to have members from Moniteau County to attend. The election of officers for the club for 2016 was held with Phil Lewis, president, Gail Hughes, secretary and Ramona Hader, treasurer. The next meeting of the Moniteau County Democrat Club will be Feb. 25.
