Girls Basketball

Owensville 62, Russellville 24

MOKANE - The Owensville Dutchgirls jumped out to a 23-4 lead after one quarter Monday and defeated the Russellville Lady Indians 62-24 in the opening round of the South Callaway Tournament.

Hailey Diestelkamp totaled a game-high 28 points for Owensville, which led 42-14 at the half and 58-19 after three quarters.

Chyan Wilkes paced Russellville (2-11) with seven points.

Russellville will play against New Haven at 6 p.m. Wednesday (today) in the tournament's loser's bracket.

Lady Pintos play in Inaugural Tri-County Conference

ELDON - The California Lady Pintos played in the Tri-County Conference hosted by Eldon last week. In the first round action the Lady Pintos defeated Hallsville 54-49 in overtime, advancing to the winners bracket. Next the Lady Pintos fell to the Lady Eagles of Southern Boone 55-34. Playing for third place the Lady Pintos were defeated by the Eldon Lady Mustangs 74-68.

Jamestown Lady Eagles take consolation at Stover

STOVER - The Jamestown Lady Eagles played Holden Friday, Jan. 8 for Consolation and won 61-44. Mickayla Strother was named to the Girls All Tournament team.

The Jamestown girls had defeated Laquey in the loser's-bracket semifinals of the Stover Tournament, 58-42 on Jan. 6. The Lady Eagles led 19-6 after one quarter, 29-17 at half and 49-30 after three quarters. Mackenzie Strother led Jamestown with 15 points, Mickayla Strother scored 14 and Lexi Muri added 12.

The Lady Eagles lost their first game on Jan. 4 to Cole Camp 61-47. Leading scorers for Jamestown were Mikayla Strother with 19 and Alli Muri with 13. Strother broke the 1,000 career points during this game.

Boys Basketball

California Pintos capture consolation at Tri-County Tournament

ELDON - California Pintos were victorious against Eldon Mustangs 56-46 on Thursday with the help of Landon Mouse, who scored 25 points.

The Pintos wasted no time with a 17-point first quarter, eventually claiming a 32-25 lead by halftime.

Mouse was on the ball for California, making 47 percent 8-for-17 of shots attempted and hitting 100 percent 7-for-7 of free throws attempted.

Jacob Wolken made it into double digits, scoring 20 points for California 10-for-12. Also chipping in for California were Ethan Hodges with 5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and Wyatt Bestgen with 4 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block.

California finished the game with 31 rebounds 8 offensive/23 defensive, two blocks and 12 steals.

Eagles advance to finals at Stover Tournament

STOVER -The Eagles played Tuscumbia Thursday, Jan. 7, and won 51-40. Jamestown was led in scoring by Garrett Wolfe with 18 and Trenton Barbour contributed 13.

The fourth-seeded Jamestown Eagles started the Stover Tournament by taking out the fifth-seeded host school 65-46 on Tuesday night. Wolfe tossed in 18 points to lead the winners, while Barbour was close behind with 17.

The Eagles will play Wednesday (today) at 7:30 p.m. for first place against Cole Camp in the Stover Tournament. This is a snow make-up date.
