California drops tourney opener in overtime

In a great showing, Landon Mouse scored 20 points, but this was not enough as California fell to Fatima 68-59. California fell apart fast after scoring a game-high 16 points during the first quarter, trailing 31-28 by the half. Racking up 21 fouls in total the Pintos played a very physical game.

Mouse led California's offense with 20 points, including six during the fourth period. He also contributed five rebounds and one block.

Jacob Wolken hit double digits, scoring 18 points. Also chipping in were Josh Woodruff with 7 points and 2 rebounds, Jaylin Freeman with 6 points, 3 rebounds, 6 steals). Wolken was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up nine rebounds, two steals and a block.

California finished the game with 31 rebounds (11 offensive / 20 defensive), two blocks and eight steals.

Tonight the Pintos are back in action as they play Boonville at 9 p.m. In the opening boys game tonight Marshall will play Southern Boone at 7:30 p.m.

The California Lady Pintos will play Marshall at 4:30 p.m. followed by Battle facing Fulton at 6:30 p.m.
