The members of the CPI Organization Committee held their monthly meeting at Beth Jungmeyer's home on Jan. 14. The discussion focused on the details for the "Dancing with the Stars" event to be held at the Finke Theatre on April 9.
The featured "star" dancers are Steve Wasser dancing with Vickie Schroeder, Beth Schoeneberg dancing with Rudy Schroeder and Charlie Roll dancing with Lana Dicus. The dancers have been asked to learn to dance the waltz, the two-step and a dance of choice. The audience will vote on their favorite couple.
During the second half of the program, there will be featured demonstration dances and some dances with audience participation. At the end of the program, the children in the audience will be asked to come onto the stage and dance the Hokie Pokey and the Chicken Dance.
CPI has changed the name of "The California Historic District" to "Old Town California." There are plans for an all-day event on March 19 with the new logo and name change in the Old Town area.
The different CPI committees for the Old Town project have proposed recommendations which are subject to CPI Board of Directors approval at the January meeting.
The committee also approve the draft of the quarterly newsletter. The next meeting will be Feb. 11.
