Feb. 5, the school will be packed. Many will be in the stands, cheering on the Eagles against the Bunceton Dragons, but a few will be in their favorite dress clothes, wondering about the coronation.

This thrilling night is JHS Homecoming. On this particular Friday night, Jamestown's former alumni are invited back with the current students to cheer on the Jamestown girls and boys' basketball teams. The games are always exciting, but the whole week is full of fun. Student Council President Kamden Flippin states, "The students can expect the normal homecoming activities, such as the usual pep rally, the basketball games, the homecoming coronation, posters, and the dress up days."

This year's theme for homecoming is "Surf'sUp!" Student Council vice president, Alexis Muri, explains,

"We had floated ideas from the past themes and came upon this particular theme from eight years ago. We all decided that we liked it and wanted it to be the theme for this year?'s homecoming."

With the theme "Surf'sUp!" there will be fun dress up days to go with it. Monday will be "PJ Day", so wear your favorite pair of pajamas; Tuesday will be "Tacky Tourist Day," dress like a shabby tourist; Wednesday will be "Senior Citizen Day," so grab some of your grandparents' clothes and come to school; Thursday will be "Aloha! Beach Day." A fun idea for this day would to be dressed like you're going to the beach; Friday will be the traditional "Spirit Day," so dress in all of the Jamestown blue and white stuff, like pom-poms, glasses and scarves.

Homecoming also means the traditional coronation. This year, the prince and princess candidates from seventh grade are Dante Dietzel and Kaitlin Tice, eighth grade candidates are Keegan Borts and Faith Cassels, freshmen candidates are Drew Strange and Chiane Harlan and the retiring prince and princess are Trenton Barbour and Valerianna Gentzch. The king and queen candidates from the sophomore class are Christian Hilsenbeck and Katie Hunziker, the junior candidates are Cole Brizendine and Shyla Wurster, and the senior candidates are Ben Gerlach and Erica Crider. The retiring king and queen are Wyatt Hunziker and Regan Russell. The Homecoming dance will follow the coronation and games. Most people come with their friends, while others come with a special someone.

Homecoming is always an exciting and fun time for students. Fourth grader Henry Hirschvogel says his favorite thing about Homecoming week is, "the games and activities, like the pep assembly." Homecoming will be an enjoyable, exciting and fun-filled evening. So come on out and celebrate homecoming with us!
