Two found dead in Clarksburg
On Monday, Feb. 28, officers of the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to Academy Street in Clarksburg as local residents listened on scanners. Shortly after the initial calls, officers closed off access to Academy Street except for local residents. It was later reported that two people, a man and woman were found dead at a residence in the small town. A press release received from the Sheriff's Department confirmed the deaths of Charles E. Wood, 51, and Judy M. West, 61. The preliminary results of the Medical Examiner indicated both died from gunshot wounds to the head. The death of West was ruled a homicide and Wood was ruled a suicide. According to the press release of March 1, "These deaths remain under investigation, but it appears at this point to be a murder / suicide." According to other sources, the two may have been dead for a week or more.
