Moniteau County Ham Auction held Saturday

The Moniteau County Fair Junior Ham Auction was held Saturday, Aug. 8, in the livestock sale barn. There were more than 120 hams cured by members of the 4-H groups of the county and FFA members on the auction list.

In addition, the champion cured bacon slabs and commercial hams were auctioned at the same event. The Grand Champion bacon slab was cured by Brad McCord. The Reserve Grand Champion was cured by Johnny Cassil. The Grand Champion Commercial Ham was entered by Quynten Cary. The Reserve Champion Commercial Ham was entered by Gerlach Slaughter House.

The Champion Non-Commercial Ham was entered by Brad McCord. The Reserve Champion Non-Commercial Ham was entered by Danika Latham.

The Junior Ham winners were 4th - Brooklyn VanLoo, California FFA; 5th - Hunter Berendzen, Show Me 4-H; 6th - Jacob Gerlach, Jamestown FFA; 7th - Mitchell Moon, Tipton 4-H; 8th - Danika Latham, Early Birds 4-H; 9th - Aaron Spillars, Busy Bees 4-H; 10th - Abigail Lietzke, Eldon FFA.

The young people of 4-H and FFA displayed their cured hams one at a time as those present entered bids on them.
