Turnout was good for Circle of Prayer, support appreciated

Nearly 100 law enforcement officers and their supporters rallied at the Moniteau County Jail for a Circle of Prayer to support the police.

The non-law enforcement supporters were joined by officers of the Missouri Highway Patrol, Moniteau County Sheriff's Office, City of California Police Department and Missouri Conservation Department.

Paul Pfaff, an elder of the Capital City Christian Church, Jefferson City, spoke about putting the Circle of Prayer together because of the threats against police officers in the country and the danger they put themselves in to serve the residents. Those present held hands as they made as much of a circle as they could around the jail facility.

Beginning with those on the north side of the jail, the law enforcement and non-law enforcement people present offered individual prayers for the safely and well-being of police officers.

Laura Hayward, who was accompanied by Darby Hudson, was asked why she took part in the event to support law enforcement officers, said, "Just because we're thankful for everything they do."

Moniteau County Deputy Sheriff Audrey Laczko said, " It's good to see the community support. It means a lot."

Conservation Agent Nathan Hodges said, "It's good to have the community support."
