Santa was among those taking part Saturday in the Jamestown Christmas Parade.

The parade, with a theme of "A Christmas Movie," began at the Jamestown School, went west on Highway 179, looped through the city, made a stop at the senior housing and returned to the school.

Parade entries included a number of floats, fire trucks, a vintage 1992 Corvette, a 1941 International Harvester truck with four generations of the Schlup family, several ATVs, a walking elf of normal human size, a bicycle pulling a small wagon with Roxie the dog (costumed with antlers), Madelynn Gerlach astride Reba the horse and a number of business vehicles.

Since there was no snow on the ground, Santa used the Jamestown 1955 fire truck, now privately owned, as a sleigh. After the parade, Santa went over to the school to listen to a long line of children and have his picture taken with them.

Following the visit with Santa, many stayed in the school to enjoy a meal of a hot chili meal provided by the music department.

Winning floats were:

First place - "The Polar Express" float of Eagles Nest Childcare;

Second place - "The Island of Misfit Toys" float of the Girl Scouts;

Third place - "The Little Drummer Boy" float of the New Hope Baptist Church.
