Elections to library board

The request for a trial has been denied in the ongoing litigation by the city of Tipton against the Moniteau County Library District and its board.

John Kay, legal counsel, updated the board at its regular meeting July 19 in California. The court hearing took place July 15, where 26th Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Hayden denied the plaintiff's motion for a trial setting.

The newly-elected board officers are: President Peggy Basinger, Vice President Elaine Proctor, Treasurer Marian Gish, Secretary Ashli Wood and Member-at-large Janis Wassman.

Librarian Connie Walker reported the in-house book sale fundraiser generated nearly $580.

Technology use for June included 983 public computer uses, 484 indoor free WiFi uses, and 294 uses of the early literacy computers.

The summer reading program in June reached 1,148 children with 180 programs, including programs taken to eight area day providers and preschools.

The movie collection saw 721 check outs.

The next board meeting is 4 p.m. Aug. 18.
