Two injured in Jefferson City crash

Two Mid-Missouri residents were injured shortly before 3:45 p.m. Wednesday when two cars collided in eastern Jefferson City.

Police report a car driven by Nicholas Fischer, 21, California, was making a left turn from Moreau River Access Road to go northbound on North Shamrock Road when his car was struck on the passenger side by a northbound car driven by Brianna Logan, 20, Columbia, who had exited nearby U.S. 50/63 onto Shamrock.

Fischer received minor injuries. A passenger in his car, 37-year-old Montrez Ricketts of Columbia, received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to University Hospital, Columbia, for treatment.

The force of the initial collision propelled Fischer's vehicle into two southbound cars as they were waiting in line on Shamrock to access U.S. 50/63. Those cars received minor damage but their drivers and Logan reportedly were unhurt.

An off-duty Holts Summit Fire Department officer at the scene initially called for help. In addition to police and Cole County EMS, Jefferson City firefighters responded to extricate occupants from Fischer's car.
