California's Russellville Road water tower is expected to back in service within two weeks. The renovation work is complete, with testing and the final inspection yet to be done on the million-gallon water tower.

After the tower is back in service, the computerized well operation system will be updated. Demolition of the water tower at Cargill and the original 1911 water tower at the corner of Owen and Patrick streets will be demolished. Demolition is expected to begin mid-August.

According to Water and Wastewater Supervisor Kyle Wirts, the 2016 sewer improvement project for Randolph, Hodges, South Taylor and Versailles streets is to be bid soon. The engineering work was started in 2015. Planning continues on the sewer improvement in the northwest part of the city and the Cedar Street sewer project is in the preliminary stages.

Plans are also in the works to put in new water lines to the new base of the ambulance district. The new line will be about 600 feet, with an underbore of Quail Drive. The project is expected to start in July. For another project, plans are in the works to install increased capacity water lines to the original industrial facility off of Industrial Drive, in preparation for a new occupant. Bids for the material will be sought soon.
