The annual California FFA Banquet was held Wednesday, May 4, in the California High School Commons, with students and adults recognized for achievements and assistance.
Parents, school board members, administrators, present and retired agriculture teachers were recognized.
Many proficiency and vocational agriculture award recipients were recognized. Scholarship awards were also presented as were the recipients of the Star Awards.
The Star Award recipients for this year were Trey Porter, California FFA Star Greenhand; Ethan Hodges, California FFA Star Farmer; and Katie Imhoff, California FFA Star Placement.
From the California FFA Chapter, the winner of the Agricultural Accomplishment Award is Ethan Hodges. FFA Scholarship Award winners are Grace Henley freshman, Halle Oliver sophomore, Cameron Meyer junior, and Claire Kuhlman senior. The five students selected to sing in the FFA Chorus are Emily Bilyeu, Jacob Adams, Liam Glenn, Grace Henley and Cameron Meyer.
Winners of the Robert H. Denker Scholarship Award are Claire Kuhlman, Ethan Hodges, Sidney Draffen and Sophie Brant.
State FFA Degree recipients were recognized. They are Sarah Bryant, Sidney Draffen, Brandan Gump, Ethan Hodges and Katie Imhoff.
At the close of the meeting, the retiring FFA Chapter officers turned the symbols of their offices over to the incoming officers who will serve for the 2016-17 school year.
Incoming officers are: Halle Oliver president, Emma Baer, Brittany Ellington and Cole Schlup vice presidents, Jack Johnston secretary, Allee Koestner treasurer, Sarah Bryant and Payten Hampton reporters, Caleb Bleich sentinel, Ellie Wirts parliamentarian, Trey Porter historian and Cameron Meyer chaplain. The junior officers are Addison Embry president, Bethany Stuedle vice president, Paige Johnson secretary, Madison Ratcliff treasurer, Hannah Hill reporter, and Hayden Hoellering sentinel.
FFA Advisors are Adam Bieri, Lee Longan and Dale Hodges. All three are also Ag advisors and Ag instructors. Hodges is also Adult Ag instructor.
