Sheriff's Office open extra hours for convenience

The Moniteau County Sheriff's Business Office will now be open from 8 a.m. to 12 noon the first Saturday of each month. This is an effort to better serve the public, especially when obtaining or renewing concealed carry permits. The regular hours of the business office are 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday though Friday.

Sheriff J Gump said, "By being open a half a day one Saturday a month, we hope this will make it much easier to obtain or renew the CCW Permits for people who work days Monday through Friday."

For the renewal, the CCW holder must come to the Sheriff's office with a valid driver's license and the old CCW Permit. Payment of $50 is due at that time. Cash or check only. The process takes 7-10 days for all background checks to be completed. The applicant must return to the office where the new CCW Permit card will be printed.

For a new permit, the applicant must come to the office with a valid driver's license and certification from a CCW class. The applicant will pay a fee of $82.50, Cash or check only. The receipt must then be taken to the jail and the applicant must be fingerprinted. After the fingerprints are done and all background checks are completed, the office will remind the applicant that the permit is ready to pick up. The permit card will be printed at the office when the applicant arrives.
