The California Police Department set up a Drug Take Back booth Saturday, Oct. 22 on the parking lot of the California City Hall to collect unused medical substances. The Police Department was assisted by the Boy Scouts and the Cub Scouts. Collected were 97 pounds of unneeded, outdated or other medications, both prescription and over the counter.
The police department is working with the DEA to collect substances which would have been, in many cases, flushed down a toilet, or thrown in the trash, possibly end up going into lakes, streams or groundwater.
A drop box is located in the Police Department to provide easy access for people wishing to get rid of old medications. The substances collected will be turned in the DEA.
