Only 1 local contested race in Nov. 8 election

On the ballot for the Nov. 8 General Election, as in every national election since 2004, there is no place to mark for a straight ticket vote. This means that the voter must go down the list of candidates and mark each one.
When voting, remember to fill in the arrow for the appropriate candidate or issue. If the arrow is not filled in, the machine may not count the vote.
There are a limited number of contested races on the ballot for the Nov. 8 GeneraI Election. In fact, as far as local races are concerned, only the race for Second District County Commissioner has more than one candidate on the ballot. In that race, incumbent Kim Roll Democratic ticket is challenged by Greg Robinson - Republican ticket.
The races for Moniteau County Sheriff, First District County Commissioner, County Assessor, Public Administrator and Coroner are all uncontested. Those writing in names of anyone not certified will not have their vote counted.
Incumbent State Rep. Caleb Jones, Republican, 50th District, is running unopposed. Incumbent State Rep. David Wood, Republican, 58th District, is challenged by Travis Maupin, running on the Democratic ticket. Incumbent U.S. 4th District Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler, Republican, has two challengers - Democratic candidate Gordon Christensen and Libertarian Candidate Mark Bliss.
Running for the office of Attorney General are Democrat Teresa Hensley and Republican Josh Hawley. The race for State Treasurer is a four-way contest between Democrat Judy Baker, Republican Eric Schmitt, Libertarian Sean O'Toole and Green Party candidate Carol Hexem. For the office of Secretary of State, Robin Smith, Democrat, is running against John (Jay) Ashcroft, Republican, and Chris Morrill, Libertarian.
There are also four candidates for Lieutenant Governor - Democrat Russ Carnahan, Republican Mike Parsons, Libertarian Steven R. Hedrick and Green Party candidate Jennifer Leach.
From the publicity, the race for Governor might appear to be a two-way contest between Democrat Chris Koster and Republican Eric Greitens. In reality, it is a five-way race, since there are three other candidates in the race - Liberterian Cisse W. Spragins, Green Party Don Fitz and Independent Party Lester Benton (Les) Turilli Jr.
There are also five candidates for the office of United States Senator. Incumbent Republican Roy Blunt is challenged by Democrat Jason Kander, Libertarian Jonathan Dine, Constitution Party Fred Ryman and Green Party candidate Johnathan McFarland.
There also are five teams in the running for U.S. President and Vice-President - Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and running mate Timothy Michael Kaine; Republicans Donald J. Trump and Michael R. Pence; Libertarians Gary Johnson and Bill Weld; Constitution Party candidates Darrell L. Castle and Scott N. Bradley; and Green Party candidates Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka.
