Voters pass Russellville school ballot issues

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - Cole County R-1 School District voters approved two ballot measures Tuesday.

Proposition CARE (Community Action Reinvesting in Education), a continuation of a $2 million bond, was approved in both counties, 523-176. The measure required a simple majority for passage. By county, Moniteau cast 79 "yes" votes to 19 "no" votes; Cole County's "yes" votes were 444 and "no" votes were 157.

The measure will help in facility upgrades and renovations, including the climate-control system across all facilities, rehabilitating the elementary school cafeteria and improving the teacher salary schedule.

Proposition A, allowing an increase to the operating levy, was approved in both counties, 428-264. The measure required a simple majority for passage. By county, Moniteau cast 72 "yes" votes to 26 "no" votes. Cole County cast 356 "yes" votes to 245 "no."

This measure allows the board to set the levy at up to $3.76. The additional revenue would help the district balance the budget and cover essential resources.
