The April 4 election results were verified Monday, April 17, at a special meeting of the City of California Board of Aldermen, following which the aldermen and the mayor were sworn in.
Taking the oath of office were: incumbent Ward I Alderman Ron Baker; incumbent Ward II Alderman Darryl Elliott; incumbent Mayor Norris Gerhart; and newly-elected Ward III Alderman Lanny Ash.
While all three of the aldermen were unopposed in the election, Gerhart was re-elected by a vote of 366 to 135 over challenger Charlie Roll.
Also on Monday, Carol Rackers, retiring Ward III Alderwoman, was presented a certificate of Recognition of Service by the mayor. She was recognized for 16 years of service to the city during a presentation made following her last action as a member of the board.
