The Heck Horse will be returned to its hometown May 6.

May 6 is a memorable day for the Moniteau County Historical Society. It marks the culmination of the 50th year anniversary of the Society with the public unveiling of the Heck Horse, last seen in California in 1973 after being on display in the window of the Heck Saddlery Company for 83 years.

Because of the support of many people, Heck was restored by the Chase Studio in Cedar Creek.

The homecoming event will be at the Moniteau County Cultural Heritage Center from 1-4 p.m. Ceremonies will begin in the genealogy library with remarks and the introduction of special guests. Those attending will move through the museum into the area where the Heck Horse is located.

Refreshments will be provided in the meeting room of the society. Members of the society will be assisting with the homecoming celebration.
