The new principal of Prairie Home R-V School, Michele Rex, is not only returning home, but is also returning to the school in which she started her career.

"I was raised and graduated from Prairie Home, so this is coming home for me," Rex said. "I attended Lincoln University and after graduation I taught four years at Prairie Home serving as their Physical Education teacher in which I coached various sports."

In 1997, Rex left the Prairie Home Panthers for a position in Linn County R-I School District, in Purdin. At that school, she taught Physical Education, Social Studies and Health for 16 years, coaching the Linn County Lady Mustangs, girls softball, basketball and track.

She has earned a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from William Woods University, as well as a Specialist Degree in Administration from the same university.

After 20 years as a teacher, Rex left Linn County to become principal at Tina-Avalon R-II High School, in Tina, which is in Carroll County. She then left the Tina-Avalon school, home of the Dragons, and became principal at Southwest Livingston High School, home of the Wildcats, at Ludlow, in Livingston County.

Now, beginning her 25th year in the field of education, she is once again a Panther.

"I have just recently moved to Prairie Home, early this July, and am eager to start school," Rex said.
