2 from JC arrested for theft, vehicle tampering

After a weeklong investigation, the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department has arrested two Jefferson City residents in connection with thefts of motor vehicles.

Brad Christmann, 36, and Jamie Christmann, 36, are each charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and stealing.

Sheriff's department reports show deputies started an investigation Aug. 3 on a recovered stolen vehicle out of Jefferson City, which was found in the area of Missouri 87 and Route F. Deputies located and recovered a stolen trailer just off U.S. 50 that was believed to be related to this incident.

On Monday, deputies located and recovered a camper reported stolen out of Holts Summit inside the California city limits.

During the investigation, the Christmanns were developed as suspects and Cole County Sheriff's Department deputies located them and turned them over to Moniteau County for investigation.

Authorities later learned of several other thefts in multiple jurisdictions that the Christmanns were involved in, and law enforcement agencies from those areas have been notified.

As of Thursday, the Christmanns were being held in the Moniteau County Jail on $50,000 bond each.
