Jefferson City man faces charges after weekend chase

A Jefferson City man has been charged after getting into a chase with authorities this weekend.

Gregory Hite Jr., 28, is charged with felony resisting a lawful stop and two misdemeanors: DWI and careless and imprudent driving.

As of Monday, he was being held without bond.

Hite allegedly failed to stop for a flashing red light at Madison and East High Streets just after 1 a.m. Sunday, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

An officer saw this and activated his lights for Hite to stop, but he accelerated through the 200 block of East High and failed to stop.

Hite continued on East High, reaching speeds over 80 mph, and failed to stop at East High and Lafayette streets.

He finally lost control and crashed in the 900 block of East High.

Hite got out of this vehicle and got into a struggle with police officers before he was taken into custody.

At the Cole County Jail, he was given a Breathalyzer test and was found to be intoxicated.
