Co-op track for Tipton, St. Andrews schools OK'd

The co-op between the Tipton and St. Andrews schools junior high track program was approved at the Nov. 13 Tipton school board meeting.

After review, the board approved the bills, which totaled $216,73.92, for payment. The board of education filing dates were set from Dec. 12 to Jan. 16, 2018, except for the days the office is closed, due to holidays or weather.

The board is seeking bids for investment services, set to be due by Dec. 31. This motion and approval followed a presentation by Jason Glidden with Missouri Securities Investment Program (MoSIP), who discussed investment options available through the organization he represents. He was available to answer questions after his presentation.

Superintendent Terry Robinson announced the elementary school received the USDA Bronze Award and Board president Clint Miller presented Tina Barbour, of Opaa! Food Management, with the award.

Robinson updated the board on the Advanced Refunding with L.J. Hart and Company.

Elementary school, K-6 enrollment was 286, with an attendance rate of 95.78 percent. Junior high/high school (grades 7-12) enrollment was given as 305, with an attendance rate of 96.93 percent.

The PTO reported a "very good" fall fundraiser, with a little more than $6,000 brought in for the organization. After the water problems on the playground are improved, the PTO would like to help with additional playground equipment. They work to make sure that the classrooms have what is needed to help and assist in funding different activities.

The 90th annual FFA Convention was held Oct. 25-28 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Students who attended were: Blake Arnel, Kiley Bailey, Haylee Berve, Kyla Cornine, Taylor Cressley, Rylan Edwards, Kylee Gengler, Adrianna Guillen, Gunner Irey, Reagan Koechner, Blake Kugler, Rylyee Mefford, Braden Petree, Ashley Rex, Jackson Schmidt, Amanda Stover, Gracie Wierman, Connor Wolf and Kynies Xia.
