Missouri Rep. Vicky Hartzler, R-4th District, released the following statement after House Armed Services Chairman Mac Thornberry, R-Texas, tapped her to lead the subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations for a second term:

"I thank Chairman Thornberry for his trust in continuing with the great work we started last year as a committee. We have made great strides in making sure our men and women in uniform have the tools and resources they need to address the threats of today and prepare for those of tomorrow.

"In an increasingly fiscally-constrained world, however, we must continue to ensure the DoD spends tax dollars wisely and its programs are executed efficiently. These have been priorities of mine since coming to Congress, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to provide this key oversight to the Department of Defense to ensure our national security."

Said Chairman Thornberry: "Congresswoman Hartzler has proven herself to be an exemplary leader on the subcommittee. Her fierce dedication to both our troops and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars makes her a natural fit for this vital subcommittee. I look forward to working alongside her to ensure our military is the best and most efficient in the world."

In addition to the House Armed Services Committee, Hartzler also serves on the House Agriculture Committee in the 115th Congress.
