California Kindergarten presents Nursery Rhyme Day

California kindergarteners performed Friday, Jan. 20, on stage before filled seats at the California High School. Parents, grandparents, friends, family and guests were on hand for Nursery Rhyme Day.

Wearing costumes appropriate for a variety of nursery rhyme characters, students from the classrooms of Taylor Grellner, Elizabeth Smith, Bret Medlin, Dana Gerke and Jill Kirksey performed several rhymes to the delight of the audience in an event directed by Stacy Freidrich.

Grellner's students performed Three Little Kittens, Little Boy Blue, Baa, Baa, Black Sheep, Itsy, Bitsy Spider and Hickety Pickety. Smith's class was next with Hickory, Dickory Dock, Hot Cross Buns, Lazy Mary, Will You Get Up?, Ring Around the Rosy and Cobbler, Cobbler. Medlin's class recited Mary had a Little Lamb, Little Jack Horner, Jack and Jill went Up the Hill, Oats, Peas, Beans and Barley Grow and Rub-a-dub-dub. Gerke's kindergarten class presented Three Blind Mice, Sing a Song of Sixpence, There was a Crooked Man, Little Miss Muffet and Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling. Last on the stage, Kirksey's class performing Little Tommy Tucker, Higglety, Pigglety, Pop, Hey Diddle Diddle, London Bridge and One, Two, Buckle My Shoe.

Following the class performance, each student went to the microphone and gave his or her name.
